Default Rear Driveshaft throwing grease?

I just checked underneath my jeep and there is a alot grease under there on the gas tank and on undercarriage. The funny thing is that it is all behind the rubber boot on driveshaft towards back of vehicle. It is kind of lined up with where pinion nut so it is behind the rubber joint area. Doesnt grease come from the rubber area at joint? I cant find any grease there or anywhere else except a little bit of grease around the hole on the flange thing by pinion. My drivesahft sounds fine, no noises or anything, is this something else or my driveshaft going bad? I just had my jeep in for a regear and the guy said my driveshaft looks fine and it isnt pinching at all.

Sounds like a bad pinion seal, check the oil level in the rear end and see if it is low or overfilled.

Its not diff fluid. It is very gooey black grease. I will take a pic.

the only thing I can think of is that my mechanic tried to pump grease into the drive shaft or something.

with as much lift as you have on a 2-door, your cv boot has finally been compromised. this is not something you can fix and it's just a matter of time before the bearing inside fail. you need to look for a new aftermarket u-joint style drive shaft to replace it. if you don't have them already, you will need adjustable rear uppers as well to set your pinion angle

Ok here are some pics. The boot seems fine. no grease around it, it doesnt line up, I would assume the grease would be a little farther forward. I wonder if mechanic tried to grease driveshaft by pumping grease into the hole looks greasy in pic near bottom.

In this pic, there appears to be grease around this hole.

hmmm, that's interesting. you're right, it's not coming from the boot but, it doesn't look like a pinoin seal issue either. in fact, i'm not sure i can even tell where the grease is coming from being that flange and joint look relatively dry and clean

EDIT: noticed the later pics with the hole - if you're sure this isn't gear oil, did someone maybe try to add grease to this point?

thats kind of what I am thinking, I just emailed my installer. He isnt used to working on JKs but he is a wiz with gears and older jeeps. It def is not Diff fluid unless he put some Damn thick fluid in there becasue it feel like mulit-use grease to me when I touch it. It isnt dripping at all and is gooey as hell.

yeah, that's the only think i can think of. it definitely looks like grease and maybe he thought the hole was a grease point

Just talked to the guy who installed my gears. He told me that he didnt grease anything in the rear when he had it. Any other ideas?
