It's going to fail. Check the boots at the clamps.

i think you misunderstood him - he's saying that even though they aren't bad yet, they will go bad eventually and, he's right.

I have the money to buy a new shaft and upper control arms. May be I should just do it. I just wish I could verify for sure where its coming from. It issnt making any noise or anything either. I would think I would see grease from around rubber boot/joints.

Could it go bad from the other side and grease come out of that hole on there that is visible in one of the pics?

nah, looking at your pics, your cv boot looks fine and there's no way it would be spitting grease from behind. if you've ever taken one apart, you'd know what i mean. more than likely, it's probably something dumb like what we had talked about earlier. if the bearing were going bad, you'd know it as it would make a ratcheting type sound on acceleration and you just said that you're not hearing anything.

if you can afford a new shaft, i would recommend it and if not, just run what you have till it breaks.

I talked to my mechanic who did gear install, he told me he didnt grease anything on DS or on rear axle so I am not sure where its coming from. I'll take another look tomorow.

I have the exact issue. Did anyone figure out what this is? I'm hoping it's the pinion seal somehow since I'm regearing as soon as I can find an installer.
