OK so what do us "west coasters" do? Is there a program we can buy or is there a shop out this way that can do it? Please help, This is turning into a giant pain in the ass.

Just to clarify...I believe the JK uses a Hall Effect sensor that reads off of the shaft reolutions to compute the speed/odometer readings, based upon an assumed tire diameter and diff ratio.

That means that the speedometer can be reading differently with a gear change, as well as for a tire change, etc.

The tone ring data seems to feed the ABS and traction control, etc.

Its possible that the CPU crunches ALL of this, to compare ground speed to wheel speed, etc...but I have not reviewed the programming to confirm this.

At a minimum, it appears that changing the diff gears WILL change what the speedometer indicates...AND that changing the tire diameter will as well.

just a thought, talk to your jeep dealer. i have 07 sahara unlimited 4 door. i was at dealer today for flashing. mine is wheel sensors, gearing will not effect speed or mileage. but apparently 07 was some sort of transition year for jeep jk. there are differences in early and late models. have them run your vin#. u will find out alot more than u think.
