I have been running a PSC 1.75 8" ram with a Derale 5 pass cooler on the stock chinese box, stock pump, and stock res. The pump leaves a lot to be desired. Off road it is fine unless you punch it getting onto a dirt road and cant correct fast enough and end up driving into the woods looking like an idiot.

A buddy works in heavy equipment so he made me a set of lines, the cooler and fittings ran me about $50, and the ram was $200 something. I am very happy with it considering I only have $300 in it. Tapping the box is extremely simple. If you can use a drill and a tap and have a vice, you can do it.
Ha must be a nice ass ram mine was like 100 shipped brand new. I think cooler and all into mine im under 300 also.

Will this adversely effect my on road handling? Pro's cons? Who has Experiance with this?

Go!!!!
I bought a redneck ram a few months ago. I was so excited for my first hydraulic assist I upgraded to 40 inch tires and went to Easter Jeep Safari. The very first trail the ram itself blew a fitting, clean out of the ram, taking the threads with it. They are made of aluminum and not, very good aluminum. When I called redneck ram, West, Texas Oro, the owner blatantly, and in so many words blamed me and I quote nothing leaves our shop without it being 100% perfect“ unwilling to help or do anything except for sell me another ram . I called immediately to PSC. (performance steering components.) And they were willing to help me out, and next day air me a ram. The PSC ram is all steel. WITH VERY GOOD FITTINGS. WHEN I FIRST HIT THE TRAIL WITH THE REDNECK RAM, I THOUGHT THIS IS GREAT STEERING IS EASY. AFTER INSTALLING THIS PSC RAM MY THOUGHTS HAVE COMPLETELY CHANGED. THE PSC RAM IS SUPERIOR IN ALL ASPECTS, INCLUDING CUSTOMER SERVICE.. I would not suggest redneck ram to anybody, spend the money and get a superior product and superior customer service.

I've run a RNR for 7 or 8 years now with no issues with 37s. Been perfectly fine for me, and those guys out in Abilene are not bad fellows. PSC is practically in my back yard so I'm well familiar with them as well. I'd say both products are good for various people. The only thing i really don't like about the RNR setup was their supplied lines with crimped fittings. Replaced with quality line and field-serviceable fittings and have never had an issue while out wheeling. I've first-hand seen few buddies over the years using RNR with 40s with no issue either.

They made me a better set of hoses than what WTOR supplied. Instead of welding on ram brackets they used my existing Synergy axle side damper bracket and a PSC clamp on the tie rod. We retained the stock pump with no issues, works fine. I added a Derale dual pass cooler which really brings down fluid temps and improves overall performance. The only issue has been keeping the system bled. For some reason it picks up air occasionally. I think it's the reservoir feed getting foam from trail sloshing. I may add a larger Howe reservoir. Bottom line, do it.
An update on my 2015 post. Nine years and probably 50k miles later the RNR setup is still going great. Only change was we ditched the modified Synergy steering damper mount and welded tabs onto the track bar bracket on the front axle. I just did EJS for the 22nd time, the ninth time with this steering setup, never a single issue.
