i know there is no flashpaq or programmers for the 12's - yet...
and the fact that a re-gear is $$$$$$

so, my question...
for arguments sake, lets say there was a programmer for the 12's

---------------------------------

-what would be the pros / cons of either a re-gear or a programmer (aside from the expense)?

-whats putting more strain on the engine on local streets and highway usage - the 3.21's, or 4.1's? i would assume the 4.1's since ill be running higher rpm's OR is it the other way around?

-what would put more strain on the engine - the regear or the tuner?
Personally, i would regear after you do the engine mod's, you're making changes to the engine that will make it have a different hp and torque rating. The torque could come in later or sooner in the rpm range, making the gear choice different than at the current listing. The 4.10's maybe perfect now but with the engine mod's it could up the rpm higher or lower than you want, maybe the 3.73's will be better suited to mod's you'll be making. Let's say the cai and a exhaust gain you 10% that's 28.5 more hp, that will change what gear you'll need to put in. And you still don't know what a programmer will put you at (another 10-20%)?...whenever they come out with one that is . For easy math go with 25% from the exhaust, cai, programmer that's 71.25 more hp's. IMO, do the mod's then see want gear is needed for the tire size you'll be going to after you see where you end up (rpm's).

At this point, as with all my posts, I am STILL referring to the original thread, which addresses a 2012 Auto with 3.21 gears.

<--I'm guessing this is where we got mixed up, because it seems like you thought I was talking about 4.10's.

<--And here is my first attempt at squashing the whole overdrive debate, which we both seemed to agree on.

<--And here's you accusing me of "twisting" things around.

I have done nothing but answer the OP's question, which was originally about strain on the engine, and he also mentioned cost. I think I've been pretty straightforward with YOU and the OP in all my posts, and I have backed them with actual facts that support what I have said.
Lol, man you have too much time on your hands. The intention of everything I posted is in reference to your original post on this thread:

You stated that higher gears (lower numerically) put less strain on the motor and driveline than lower (higher numerically gears)

I was simply pointing out that this isn't the case. I guess no matter what I or others on this thread, who have said the same thing, you are going to disagree

Maybe you and I are missing what we are trying to tell each other?

Either way its no biggie, we are all entitled to our own opinions.

To the OP...good luck and Congrats on the new Jeep

Default regear-or-tuner???

Well my 2 cents, I am running 34.5 tires on procomp wheels with auto 3.73 gears, and offroad isnt an issue!! I go to Choke cherry, here in Farmigton, NM and get over some vertical rocks and dont have a problem. So the BS of 4.88s or 5.13s for off road is puzzling to me, I know that some of the stuff I takemy rig on is extreme, and capable with 3.73s and open diffs!!!
