Removing cheap rattle can bedliner
I tried to do a cheap bedliner job on my driver side and passenger side floor pans with rattle can bedliner from the department store. It is nowhere near tough enough so I want to remove it so I can go take it and get the real deal Line-X! Anyone know any tricks to make getting this stuff off a little less time consuming?
Update
*Got all the bed liner stripped I used a variety of tools to tackle the job including a chisel, drill with wire wheel bit, 40 grit sand paper, and lots of acetone.*
Now that it is stripped the floor pans are mostly bare metal will line x bond to this without primer?

Scrape, Sand, Grind, maybe a chemical stripper? Take it to the linex place and let them deal with it. I,m sure any of these would work, the question is what would do it the easiest with satisfactory results. I,m not sure, but I think I would start with scraping and sanding and go from their.
I do industrial coatings for a living so I can give you some insight. Best, fastest, easiest way to completely remove all of it would be media blasting. However, the prep and clean up would be extensive. I also apply line-x and other polyurea materials. The rattle can stuff can be coated over, but you are only as good as the base.
I would sand and scrape to remove any material that was not properly adhered and then recoat.

If I were you, I would call your local Line-X place with that question. They will be able to tell you exactly what's required.
I'm planning on doing the same thing soon, so subscribing to this thread to see if you get an answer.
