Default Removing shift-knob

Want to put a custom shift-knob on the JK.
How does the stock one remove? I've heard you just pull up as hard as you can?

You are correct. Just watch out above you, when it comes loose your and/or arm goes flying up.

I tried using vice grips on the shifter knob and hitting them with a hammer, that sucker didn't budge. I found that a sawzall works wonders!

I took mine off once on my 07 and it was a pain. I am waiting for my new shift knob to come in this week, and will see how much harder it is in my 08...

No threads. Just a notch at the top. Kinda hard to explain. Its basically 1/2 the diameter of the shifter arm.most aftermarket shift knobs come with spacers to go on the top of the shift arm.

I'd offer to take a pic but I used an epoxy to glue my RocKnobs in place.

That's the way I understand it. Check the item description, they should say something about an adapter. That's what it said for the Roc Knobs
