Replacement Roll Cage
I saw on another part of jkforum that there are 3rd row jump seats for the jeep, kind of reminded me of the Land Rover 110. Someone pointed out that the roll cage wouldn't totally protect the rear passenger since it has that angle at the rear.
Why is that angle at the "D" pillar there?
Are there replacement roll cages?
Really more of an academic question since I know if you change the cage, you'd probably have to change tops, or really have a custom one made.
I do have to say that when I test drove the Unlimited, the bars, with their padding" seem really close. An option with a few more inches of head space might be interesting
My family has a saying, "That's an idea, but not a very good one."

If I were doing this I would head over to a reputable 4wd shop and have either a new cage built for my Jeep that accomodates all seating OR simply add to the current cage. It would be a really simple addition. I have built a few cages and doing something to integrate into the factory cage would be cake. It would be something as simple as this.
That's interesting. I have a JGC and didn't realize that there is no roll bar coming up from the "C" pillar area. My guess is the dog leg is to make that run from behind the driver at the "B" pillar all the way back.
The addition method definately would be the easist way to square off the back.
How is the Roll cage attached to the frame, or is it attached to the body?
My grandfather gave me some wood working tools, and I'm pretty good at working in two dimensions, but have trouble when you add a third. That and I'v enever seen a plan or aobject I didn't think I could make better. Table tops, I'm good. Table Legs, I'm good. Getting them to go together is where I overengineer and screw things up.

They have something for the 4 door, but nothing for the trunk area. I have the RH cage and although it is not as good as having a complete chromoly cage, I do believe it will add extra protection, especially for those in the front seats, which is where the stock cage is lacking in my view.

You did an EXCELLENT job on that.
Phil,
Can you post some pics of how the cage bolts to the cowl and also how it ties together at the top of the windshield?
I had been looking at pics of this cage for quite a while and yours are the best that I have seen.
Thanks,
