Replacing RK 2.5" with Evo plushride 4"?
My off-road shop is telling me I should really go with the EVO plush ride 4" springs instead of my RK 2.5". I only have 1.5" from the top of my 3" bump stop to the bottom of the factory white bump stop. My Fox 2.0 4-6" shocks were way too long too, only allowing 1.5" of travel. I changed to the shorter Fox 1.5-3.5" front shocks and they look a lot better. The shop claims the 4" coils will give me more up-travel. I'm worried they'll be too tall. I emailed evo and even they recommended 3", but the shop is pretty sure I'll be disappointed with the 3".
I'm running 315 duratracs with a 4 door that's heavy: Ace rear bumper/carrier, skid plate, rock sliders, front bumper, winch, hard top. From looking at my jeep as it sits, I'm okay with an extra 1", but I don't want it any higher.
Here's the too long of a shock. Notice the distance from bump stop to bump stop extension.
Shorter "1.5-3.5" fox shock:

Why didnt you just remove bumpstop instead of running shorter shocks ? With a 17" collapsed shock you could of used 2" bumpstop increasing up AND down travel.
Are you not happy with the height?

Because based on that top picture even with the bumpstop he already had the shock is probably bottoming out before the bumpstop...so less bumpstop would do nothing to help

Pics just loaded, ok its hard to judge buy looking but now (as it sits) you may be able to adjust the bumpstop to increase up travel. Prior, yes i agree the shock does look long. Best bet would be to pull the springs and cycle the axle. Adjust stop to maximize what you currently have.

I would not move up to a 4" coil, I think you made the right move by getting the shorter Fox shocks. I have EVO 3" coils and used to have the shorter Fox shocks. I swapped the shorter ones for the 4-6 inch and they are a bit too long in the front. That white foam thing is a bump jounce, it's just provides cushion so when your lower bump stop meets the upper metal part there is some padding. The Fox shocks you have on now will provide a decent amount of travel. If the distance between the bump stops bothers you, I would suggest the 3" coil over the 4" coil.

Yep, if you go with anything over 3" a drag link flip is recommended to get the steering angles back in check. I have a drag link flip on my 3" and it made a nice difference in steering/cornering.
