Default The ride sucks

I just installed four new BFG A/T' 285/70/17. The ride is terrible. I lowered the pressure to 30 psi and will try to go even lower without kicking on the TPMS light. My tire guy said that the original tires were a load range B with a 4 ply and the new ones are a load range D an 8 ply rating. Does the difference between load ranges matter that much? Maybe should have done a little research before I bought tires. I had these same tires on my TJ but they were 31's and rode decent. I know a lot of you are running load range D and some E's, how is your ride and what kind of pressures are you running? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I'd say load range has a big impact on the feel of the tires. I've had Es for the past 5 years or so. They ride pretty rough because they are stiffer, but I don't mind.

Lower air pressure may help, but just a rule of thumb -

Higher load range = stiffer side wall = harsher ride.

this is exactly why when I "upgraded" my tires I went with Rubi wheels...

I was afraid of this happening.

Sorry for your problem tho. It sucks..... if you lower your air pressure too much tho, you are risking a blow out with increased sidewall temps

I went to 35 load range E on my 2 dr. it is harsh and I am ok with that for better trail durability. There was a post concerning lower pressure resulting in high sidewall heat. Just something you may want to research to find a safe balance. good luck.

sorry for the repeat, racer must type faster than I do.

Thanks for the input. I have a fix for the problem. I will be removing the tires amd replacing them with something else. Someone is going to make a good deal on some tires. Now to fiqure out what tires to use.
