Default For ripp owners

This is a question for people who have the RIPP Supercharger and specifically the ones who installed it themselves.

I have been thinking about going all out and getting one of these for a while, and I was curious about the install. I want to do it myself if possible, I don't have a whole lot of experience working around the engine but I know the basics. How hard of an install was this? What tools did you need to use to do it? Anything you got regarding the install would be helpful.

Also, after having it installed, what are your thoughts? I know there are a million threads asking this question but I figured since I'm already here, why not right?

Was in the same boat as you a couple months ago after I bought mine. Came home for R&R and had read the instructions over and over and watched the youtube videos on the install numerous times. The install seemed very straightforward but doing it by myself was a little bit too much for the short time I had at home. Had it installed by my mechanic for $500 and got the piece of mind that if it wasn't installed correctly it would be covered. As for the performance, it seemed to take a little bit for the rig to get used to the tune and adjust but it is a night and day difference for highway driving (especially in the Mountains). Offroading wont provide much of anything but the Jeep gets up and goes on the street. Very happy with it overall

I had installed the kit last month on the jk and it was super easy.. dont really need any special tools. But the hardest part was just fitting the pipes for the front mount.. but other then that it was easy basic bolt ons

I have installed several kits. Its pretty straight forward. READ THE DIRECTIONS FIRST. Make sure you understand what to do. Basic hand tools is all you need. I feel the hardest part is getting out #3 and #6 Spark plugs. Luckily Ripp has a great tech line so they can help you with any issues you may have. Also when installing the Supercharger its self tighten the from of the motor bolt first then tighten the side bolts.

Good Luck

The install is very straight forward. Just be patient and everything falls into place. The hardest part for me was the Injectors but not too bad. when mounting the pipes for the FMIC just make sure you clear the pulleys(its a bit close, but it wont rub if the pipes are tightened properly)

+ if you have any issues the RIPP tech line is very helpful.

You will love it!! I giggle every time I drive my JEEP.

I've installed 2--one in my JK and one in my wife's JK.

Completely worth it.

The YouTube video combined with the instructions were great.

Here is a thread I did on my JK RIPP install:

Default RIPP SC Install

x6 or is that x7 what the others have said? Anyway, not overly complicated install, just takes some time and patience. Plus contrary to popular myth, you'll definitely feel more power even down in the lower RPM range. It just builds from there and makes for more enjoyable driving.

Default 3.6 L instal

I did the First privately owned 3.6 L instal and I'm not a mechanic by any means and their instructions and support are bar none. And I didn't have any videos to help me along, although I did watch all the 3.8 videos. I did need a second pair of hands though, but no special tools. It's nerve racking because you're dealing with engine internals, but just dedicate a full day and take your time. I didn't start drink beer until I started routing the intercooler piping.
