RIPP Supercharged OBDII Emissions Testing??
hey All,
Its almost that time of the year here in New York where I need to get my Jeep emissions tested. Here in NYS, it's an OBDII plug-in test, plus gas cap and visual. Im certain I'll fail the visual, but I'm hoping to find someone 'nice' who'll overlook the fact that there's a huge polished blow dryer sitting where my stock airbox should be.
Who here running the RIPP kit has gotten their JK tested via OBD2? Did you remove the belt? What are the consequences of not removing the belt if it's just a plug-in test? It won't go up on the dyno, it'll just idle there with a tool scanning the OBD2.
My concerns are the tune and the larger injectors. You cannot retune back to stock because the EFI won't know what to do with the larger injectors.
Help! I have 18 days left!

Not a jeep but my z was turbo'd and I had to get it tested in Cali and in Wisconsin and Chicago. I managed to pass them all. The only tail pipe test was in Wisconsin. The rest were OBD tests. As long as no codes pop up you'll be fine. All of these had visual tests too and I had major engine mods that were very visible and no one could ever tell or just overlooked it. Like the guy above though I have never tested a vehicle in nys
Mass has similar emmission testing as ny ( from what I've heard, no personal experience in ny) but based on that I think you'll be fine. In mass you can have a blower but the computer can't be throwing any codes, no check engine lights on, and all emmissions equipment needs to be present. That's it to say that some ignorant prick inspector that thinks he is an environmental cop isn't going to bust your balls, but even if he does, go somewhere else.
I failed.
O2 and Cat sensors in a 'Not Ready' state. I guess this is how they get around CEL's.. they null them out.
Waiting for an updated tune from Ripp, but since Ross is away me thinks I'm going to miss my extension deadline.

Interesting!! They also have stated that the Electronic Throttle Control warning (lightning bolt) is disabled in their tunes. Seems odd.
