RK 2.5" Stock Mod opinions after install
Me and a buddy put on a RK 2.5" stock mod over the weekend. seeing that it was the first time either of us had done anything like this it took us about 10 hours but we got it all done.
we put it on a 09' X 2door
some tips for anyone putting this on in the future...
when dropping the front axle the drive shaft hits the frame truss which makes it a pain to get the front coils in (we ended up using spring compressors and got them in with a little persuasion)
depending on the bump stops you purchase (in our case we had teraflex ones) they do not fit through the top of the front coils so we had to just toss them in the coil, get the coil in, then pry the bump stop up in place with a small piece of 2x4 and a pry bar which wasnt too hard with the help of a little windex to lube it up
for the rear the break lines are what stop the axle from dropping far enough to slide those coils in so once again we used spring compressors and got them in there without too much trouble
when drilling the holes for the rear track bar relocation bracket i would recommend holding the new bracket up in place marking the holes then take it off to drill cuz that is a bit of a tight space to fit a drill
also when re-installing the OEM rear track bar the kit was missing the "supplied" bolt and nut to put in the left side so we ran down to home depot and bought as close as to the same thing we could and it fit with no problems so im not too worried about it
as far as the directions go if you dont already know what a track bar is or a sway bar link is you might be kinda lost because the directions dont have many pictures. luckily i watched a few youtube vids and read quite a few build threads on here that i knew my way around all the suspension components
the biggest problem i had with the directions was the adjustment length for the adjustable front track bar. it specified a length but didnt say where that measurement should be taken from or to include the bend in the the bar or measure straight across. and when we called the help line number on the directions it said they were closed
we got it in place and the jeep drives fine so i hope we did it right
the alignment was off to be expected, planning on taking it to an alignment shop tomorrow
sorry i didnt take hardly any pictures but here is one of the finished product (silver 2 door on the left) and as you can see 31s are a bit small for that lift so hopefully i can at least convince him to upgrade to some 33s

overall seems like a great beginner lift. it was a great learning experience for me working with everything for the first time and everything is very well built! good job RK for a great quality lift
yeah we used the recommended length but like i said before we really didnt know where to measure that from so we did out best to get it to the recommend length and then when we put it in place it was slightly too long so just one full turn shorter and it fit nicely
