Default Rock Krawler 3.5 x-factor?????

1st post! I installed my 3.5 rock krawler lift now my only question is that the left front coil spring sits really close to the sway bar & the end link & the right side looks normal. I called rock krawler and said that its normal for the left side to do that. I just want to know if other people running the same kit looks just like that ? The jeep drives fine & the axle is centered . The only thing I can think of is the caster is at 1.25 when I took it to the alignment shop. They didn't set the caster because he said the cross caster was equal. Also it wanders a little, and I'm thinking thats because of the caster. So I'm going to bring it to another alignment shop and have the caster set a the factory 4.5 degrees & see if that changes the spacing between the two. Also want to Thank everyone for the great info on this forum!

Hi there,
you are right, the link is to close to the coil. I have the same kit and i dont have that trouble. First make sure your coil is seated correctly, and second check the other link and see if both link are placed equal.

Good luck!

I have the 3.5" max travel kit and mine are close but not.like yours. I just got mine aligned yeaterday. We had to shorten the uppers to the shortest possible and lengthen the lowers to the longest allowed.by rk which is .5" of thread showing past jam nut. Doing that I still only had 1.6° of caster. Then we knocked the tab out of the lower bracket on the front end and we were.able to get 4.7° caster. Hope this helps. If you dont want to do that you can buy adjustable upper ball joints for $200.

Caster is critical for coil positioning. Think about it, the bottom coil spring bucket is directly related to your caster settings. Gain some caster in that bad boy and your coils will appreciate it. Also, make sure the axle is square side to side with the track bar. Coils are sensative to position...

Let us know if you have any questions.

Think I am having the same bit of issue with my setup - 3.5" X factor mid arm pro:

Here is my driver side - you sorta see where the spring and link are rubbing - I don't think this is right.

Here is the passenger side with a lot more room.

Some other questions I have you are the origination of your lower control arms - should the control arms and the bend be vertical with the chassis or are they okay twisted to one side or the other? I was
told this is okay and the only way to get the alignment to work. (this one bends in towards the drive train a little)

I went to the alignment shop got the caster set at 2.5 which helped out a bit. I positioned the control arms with the bend vertical I think it will have better ground clearance.
Like the post above shorten the top arm and make the lower longer that's the way I did
mine and so far so good

I had the same issue last week when i installed my kit.. The swaybar was stabbing the coil when flexing a bit.. I phoned RK and they told me to put the caster at 4.2 or 4.5 somewhere in there.. Everything worked out great.. I love my kit, its beefy, strong and rides better than stock

Wow this issue sucks.. I'm almost ready to pull the trigger for a 3.5 max travel. I keep reading of several who has purchased RK having this problem. One jk owner said they had to knock tabs out and another said his arms where at the limits to get the correct castor. What's the bottom line with this problem. Is the measurements for the arms off in the instructions to have the castor so far off or are the installers creating the link to coil issue. I'm doing my install and I'll make sure arms are measured correctly, but if the arm lengths need to be altered from the instructions I'd like to get right the first time.
