I have the LOD sliders. I bolted them to the frame but you can weld them on if you wish . I don't loose any ground clearance with mine. Plus they are a step my Wife and kids can get in.

One thing I'v learned about JK parts over the years "You get what you pay for" so if you go cheap you might be happy at first then you go out to the trail and your going to see why the others are more expensive.

Also I recommend you go to a Jeep club meet and greet. You can see first hand what they look like, ask to step on them crawl under to look at them, see how they take abuse etc......

Just for clarification, my comment was directed towards the ace or whatever brand sliders that mount underneath of the rubicon rails.

LOD or VKS are going to be a Solid Choice for ones that are going to stand up to abuse on the Rocks.

If your just doing easy stuff you can roll the dice and get Tub mounted. FYI the Tub is a pain to repair once those mounts get pushed in or bent. Most on here will recommend the stronger mounting options.

About 11 years ago I had a Chevy Colorado with 6" lift rear Lockers blah blah blah.... and Body mounted Steps. All it took was one hit on the rocks and they bent the body on that cheap ass truck. I know Jeep Tub mounts are stronger but I will never go body mount again.

 

I'm running rubi rails that I added a tube to and frame mounted.. the rubi rail itself is pretty stout and holds up nicely.

 

^^^This^^^ I use my frame mounted VKS to pivot on all the time, with no visible flex. I see tub mounted sliders have tons of play when trying to pivot around a rock or take a big hit. No better deal exists than these.

I'm on the fringe I suppose with frame mounted vs body mounted.

Being as they're outta business or whatever, I had purchased OR-fab sliders for my 2 door JK for like 300 bucks. They are higher than the ace sliders as they bolt up to the seam and also to the tub.

I went the extra length of burning them into the frame, as they have a nice flush joint that levels the frame. Only at three points, at both ends and center. They take the weight of the jeep very well.

The step is a good four inches off the body, and with some grip applied they are very nice.

Thanks for the help y'all. I'll probably end up getting some VKS and welding them on, seems to be the best option out there. Rather do it right the first time than have to come back later and fix my laziness.
