Default roof rack

I am contemplating build a rack for the JK. It will be to store a hi lift, shovel and other stuff on longer trips. My concern is disturbing the COG. The Jk is on 4.5 inches of lift from AEV. Any thoughts or opinions on the COG.

Because you're so concerned about it that you bumped the thread so soon, let me say the obvious: the rack and whatever you put up there will raise the center of gravity.

The hi-lift and the shovel aren't that big a deal, but the "other stuff" might wind up as the determining factor in just what capacity the rack needs. If you're talking the spare and some cans of gas along with camping and recovery equipment, well, it does add up.

In any case, if you're going to build one you should make it light. Alternatively, you might check with Gobi and the other manufacturers to see who's got the lightest one out there. HPH

Thanks Dr.Cloud for your opinions. The gobi stealth seems light.

How about the mounting system of a gobi where the whole rack comes backwords and then latches back into place.
