Question Rotors what's the difference??

So I have a warped rotor. It cant be turned again. And it makes a squeaking sound the is driving me insane! It's not covered on warranty.

I've been leaning towards slotted rotors. Any suggestions? I don't find the time to wheel very often anymore and mainly drive on the crappiest roads in the country here in West Central Louisiana.

Also I make a 4-5 hour trips on the highway 2-3 times a month. Would slotted be better for my driving style?

What are the pros and cons of these different type of rotors.
I'm Not looking for the best most expensive ones I can find Nor the cheapest ones either.
Please Help so I can get rid of the squeaking sound of my warped rotor asap!
Thanks!

Just went through this. I went with EBC rotors the slotted and dimpled. I also went with the Green 7000 pads. SO FAR SO GOOD. I have 35 inch tires and quite frankly the stock breaks worked but if you had a few hard stops fade came into play. The EBC took care of the fade and with the 7000 pads very little brake dust and good wear so far. Also better modulation in the trails. You have smooth transition rather than grabby.

Thinks to know before going into slotted and or dimpled rotors. They are louder than solid disks. The point of the slots is to allow gasses to escape hence lower rotor and brake temps. Nothing to crazy you just notice a new sound. However the stopping and reliable stop after stop with no fade.

I went with EBC due to their service and their well written up products. Call them before you buy and they can help you out with many things. I also looked at Power Slot and Hawk brakes both very good products.

ENJOY

I just changed mine out and I went with these:

I have been very pleased with these. Awesome breaking.

Also be sure to bet some brake pad grease to put on the BACK of the pads, this will help eliminate squeaking.

HTH

Good luck

If it's in the rear are you sure it's the rotor. I had brake noise and at first thought it was the rotor. Turned out to be a bent axle flange.

Hey if you want stock to a little better than stock go with the NAPA. Not bad stuff. However if you want to upgrade for a little bit more money with very noticeable performance upgrade go with EBC or HAWK or Powerslot.... If you have oversized tires it is a MUST

Thumbs up

@ biggie Its rear driver side. I raised the back removed said tire and put into drive that's when I noticed the pads sliding in and out from the warp and was the cause of the noise I was hearing.

Default Brake pads

Have not changed the rotors, but I did switch the pads to EBC. I used the EBC yellow in the front and green in the back. The fronts throw some dust, but they are a significant improvement over stock. I tow a 2500-3000lb trailer without brakes, and it's just fine with the upgraded pads. With the stock pads, braking took some planning at times.

Ya I thought it was the rotor but when I swapped rear rotors the noise was still there. I then took the rotor off and then watched it when it was in gear and you could see the warp. Just saying it's something to check. It was driver side for me as well and the more searching I do I've found it's not that uncommon

I have new chromolly shafts on order. Jack the jeep up and remove the wheel caliper and rotor. Put the jeep in gear and watch. If you still have a wobble I would probably say its a bent axle flange. If thats the case you need new axle shafts because its all one unit. Check this thread out.
