this is from roughcountry.com on the 4" lift "Kit Notes
"On Automatic equipped vehicles; due to use of an oversize driveshaft from the factory and inadequate factory clearance it may be possible for the front driveshaft to come in contact with the automatic transmission pan tearing the factory boot and rubbing on the shaft. Generally this occurs during heavy articulation when front sway bar links are disconnected and longer shocks are installed. If this is found to occur, the proper procedure would be to replace the oversize factory shaft with an aftermarket smaller diameter shaft to increase clearance between the transmission and front driveshaft. Rough Country does offer this driveshaft if needed. "

Can someone explain this to me? and should i worry a lot over it if i went with 4" lift

Can anybody comment on the measured gained on the RC lifts verses the advertised amount. I want to get larger than the 2.5, but not planning on getting 35's for awhile. So I don't want it to look goofy with my 33's.

I have the 2.5" coil lift with Adj. Front Trac Bar , Rear Trac Bar Bracket, RCX Premium Single Steering Stabilizer, High Performance 2.2 Shock's. This was my 1st lift I have ever had. I am pleased with it so far. Ride's better than stock , and track's better in heavy crosswind's at 65mph on the freeway.I stayed with my 32" Tire's for this lift. I gained about 3 1/4 " in the front and about 2" in the rear. my stock front spring's had sagged really bad with my bumper & winch. it sit's leavel now.

what I found out that, at full drop, the driveshaft does hit that skid, but, with some minor trimming, it will clear just fine. They give some spacers with the kit so you dont have to trim, but I didn't want to lose any clearance, so I trimmed, since with that skid, having a small trim will not hurt. The boot comes no where close, on an auto 4 door jk. Haven't had a problem since. No marks on the shaft from coming in contact with the skid at all.

Lifts are comprised of very simple parts. I cant say how much better lift A,B,etc is better than a rough country if at all. I know some are double to triple the price though.

Id like to see two jeeps equiped with similiar lifts installed. A rough country vs a higher cost lift. Then wheel the crap out of them and see how they fare.

Here is mine with the 4 inch lift, and 33s. Was keeping them on till they wore out, and now they have, and my 35s will be here monday. Didn't think it looked too bad for the time I kept them on. The jeep behind mine in the one pic has a leveling kit, high clearance flares, and 35s.

I have the 4" Flex Kit with all 8 Upper and Lower Control Arms, SS Brakelines, RC Dual Steering Stabilizer, and any of the other bells and Whistles. I have had it on for 2 months and love it. It flexs like crazy, rides wonderfully, and the Dual SS really helps witht he handling. Throw in all 8 Control Arms and man I couldnt want anything more, unless I went w/ Long Travel. I'm running 35" Pro Comp Xtreme MT on 17" DC-1. Do it, pull the trigger and get the 4" Flex......Click image for larger version
