I plan to go with either some Bilstein 5150 shocks, or doing the Rancho adjustable setup with the in-cab controller because I am lazy and a gadget geek.....There are lots of nice shocks out there though. Take your pick and get the right length.

Thats what I was thinking. I am not sure about the quality of the rough country shocks.

I dont think they offer much more travel than the stock shocks. Its not a quality issue. Its a length issue. Depending on what you want to do, they may or may not be the correct shock for your application.

I am going round and round on front shocks right now. I heard good things about Rubicon Express Monotubes but the travel is the same as stock so I'm looking at

these Bilsteins 5100's (15.2" - 25.5")
http://www.quadratec.com/products/16070_202.htm

Or these Rancho RS9000X (15.5" - 25.13")
http://www.quadratec.com/products/16019_005.htm

Or these OME Nitro (15.5" / 26.5")
http://www.quadratec.com/products/16091_006.htm

The Bilsteins are $40 cheaper but the Ranchos are adjustable and the OME give and 1" more travel. Does anyone feel like weighing in on which has a better street ride? It is my daily driver 1st and my hobby second so I worry about tooling around town more then a comfy ride in the rocks. That's why I am thinking the loss of 1/2" of travel and $40 may be worth the adjustment knobs.

Thanks...

I wonder if you can offer some additional info to support this conclusion? I should think that the folks who engineered the lift would be the best ones to engineer the correct shocks. Besides, I'm running the RC 2.2 shocks and have been happy with them (though I haven't wheeled it hard, as yet).

There was a post where someone measured the length of the RCX shocks compressed and extended...and it was not much longer than the stock shocks....I cant remember where it was posted now....here somewhere for sure. Ill try to find it. WHen I replace my stock shocks, I will get ones with lots more travel...as thats the only real reason to get new shocks in the first place I would think....

RC shocks are way better off road then stock with extentions... The rubi shocks were bottoming out on every bump. Last week i took the jeep off road, and really felt the diference. And jeep rides better.
The shocks at least 2"-2,5" longer then stock

Hmm..We're running two Rubi's with shock extensions. Lately, they have been on some good trails. One has no rear sway with links moved to the front, and one has stock front and rear sway. For some reason, the one with the longer links in the front does not bottom out, unless you hit a really big bump or drop.

We've been running them for quite some time now and are very happy with them. If budget is off concern, get the RC with shock extension and you'll be happy.
