Default Rounded Shock Post?

We are trying remove the front shocks and the top post on the passenger side shock is rounded where the small wrench goes.

any ideas on how to get this loose? since we are replacing the shock, we are thinking about cutting the shock and just pulling it out but we'd like to avoid that as I think cutting it is going to be more trouble than its worth. Any thoughts or suggestions?

You could grab the shaft with vise-grips or a pipe wrench then turn the nut as long as your not worried about marking the chrome. and if those slip weld a bar or something to the rod so you have a good hold on it.

Vise grips top and bottom. If you put a rag between the vise grip and shaft, it wont marr it up. The top, you can use small vise grips and or a gator grip wrench.

we ended up using a saw zaw to cut the shock just below the mounting bracket and pull the top out. not the best solution but the new shocks are right here.
