Default Rubi Locker Mod ?'s

I have searched through lots of write-ups on DIY locker mods and most are quite informative. It looks to be a fairly straight forward and easy mod. That being said, I am very unexperienced when it comes to wiring, so...

Why does there have to be added witches? Is this just for ease of install, or is there no way to make the factory switch work in low and high?

I came across this kit that comes with everything needed to make the lockers turn on (individually) in high range, low range, and at any speed... and it comes with directions Locker Switches - Off Road Engineering LLC . I know it is way more expensive than just simply buying the stuff yourself and slapping it all together, but for wiring-ignorant people like me it looks to be a great product. Anyone have any experience with this kit?

Also, will this cancel out warranty work if an issue arises? Has anyone experienced an issue taking there rig into the dealer with by-pass switches on the dash?

Sorry about the noob questions. I am just getting ready to get the locker mod completed and want to get all my ducks in a row before I pull the trigger. Thanks in advance for any info guys.

What year JK are you applying this to and what was the cost. Limited information on their site and couldn't find a price on anything. Just curious.

My JK is a 2012. From the research I have done there really isnt much difference throughout the years. The wire colors may have changed a bit, and there may be a slightly different location for the relays, but still the same basic concept.

I will be calling the company soon to get the exact price, but I read somewhere the cost of the kit was $ 79.95. I know some guys will think it is crazy to spend that kind of money on it, but by the time I could gather up mismatched switches/wiring/loom/connectors etc., and then actually figure out how to install all of it, I know damn well I would be money ahead by simply having the kit dropped at my door step.

Their website says it works with 07-12 models. I emailed them last night for a little more info. I may call them today, too. I will let you know what they say...

I don't see where it's says it's for rubi lockers. If it was me I'd just put that to words a programmer to unlock it

I have heard where someone else on the forum rewired their e-lockers to independant switches so they could be used in 2Hi, 4Hi, as well as 4Lo... but I think it was an older Jeep. I would think that modifying the control of the e-lockers would either void the warranty on them specifically or affect the drivetrain warranty... so you may want to research that aspect more before proceeding especially if you have a 2012 with a lot of warranty time left.

It says they are for JK front and rear lockers, 2007-2012. That would mean it is for a rubi. Also, I have read when using the programer to "unlock" the locker mode you have to leave it plugged in. Not sure if that is the case or not with all of them, but if so its not really what I am looking for. A simple push of a button, anytime, anywhere, in any tcase mode is what I am after.

Yeah, there are several write-ups about it for the JK's. Even the new ones. Its actually quite a simple project for someone who knows wiring. But, that aint me.

Yeah I am a little woried about the warranty. That being said, I think I will do it even if it does cancel the warranty, so I may as well get my ass in gear!
