Default Rubicon Express 3.5" Superflex Question

Anybody know if driveshaft mods are absolutely required for a JKU with this kit?

"Absolutely", no they are not. "Suggested", good idea. I would suggest getting the exhust spacer at least if you've got a 2012.

Several of us run 4" lifts with stock front driveshaft. It all depends on the kind of wheeling you do. If you flex your front axle a lot and disconnect it, be a good idea to get a new thinner front DS. But if you are like many people, and use your Jeep as a DD and not flex a ton you'll be safe.

I was looking at this lift too. The instructions say to take off the auto tranny skid. It doesn't say but, its because it can rub your DS at flex. I'm considering just dropping the skid and notching out the danger area with a grinder.

Also grind off that ear at the left front corner of the pan so it can't grab the boot on the ds. You are much safer running the stock ds if you can until they start providing aftermarket ones with the same kind of flex joint as stock. The aftermarket ones with the double cardon will fail and tear apart the tcase eventually if it isn't noticed before it gets too bad. If anyone is running the double cardon ds and you start to hear some noise coming from the driveline that joint will have to be checked. If we had hubs to stop the front ds from spinning all the time then there wouldn't be an issue.

I have this lift on mine and still run stock ds even though I was able to get a new ds for only a hundred bucks, mine is a 2 door though. I now have 57,000 miles on it and whell it hard enough that I have totally removed my front swaybar because it flexs so much that it kept getting into the hangers and dragging it down. Now I don't have any rubbing issues no matter how much flex I have going on no matter how far the steering wheel is turned.

I ran this lift for a while before I went to aftermarket driveshafts with no problems.

I would suggest, however that you talk to somebody who has a recent version of this lift. I pulled my RE arms off a couple of years ago after they started sourcing the rubber bushings in China. I got tired of replacing them. When i replaced the arms with TF after 11K all the flex joints needed to be rebuilt too. I don't like their arms and think there are better lifts out there. I think there springs are no longer up to snuff and contribute to a poorer ride quality and the supplied Bilstein shocks are too short and limit droop. The only thing I think they did right on the lift is the rear track bar bracket on the axle. At 29k I have to replace the front track bar as the bushing at one end and flex joint at the other have both gone south.

Sorry, but I have to say this lift is substandard; I'd look elsewhere.
