Default Rubicon Tow Hook

I recently purchased a rear driver's side tow hook taken off of a Rubicon. Well, yesterday I began to install it and realized that the holes on the hook don't match up with the holes in the frame. Unless I am just not putting it in the right location (which I am almost completely confident that I am not), do I need to drill new holes to be able to install it?

First of all the fact that it came from a Rubicon is meaningless. Your pre-2008 Wrangler may not have the proper holes pre-drilled in the frame.

Yep... Just drill some new ones. I use mine all the time! Works great.

Easiest to find out is to see if tow hooks were an option for 2008. I don't know when all the different options were available, but the frames are all the same minus different yearly options so the holes are either there or not. Has nothing to do with the tow hook coming from a Rubi, sport, sahara etc. They are all the same vehicles.

Is it the tow hook that sits in the center of the rear or off the side frame? Do you have a pic of it?

Prior to 2009 you either got a center tow hook or tow receiver. In 2009 the rear tow hook was switched to the drivers side of the frame.

So that would mean on a 2008, the driver's side frame holes wouldn't be there and I would have to drill them. Right?

Yes, you have to drill. My brother in law took my tow hook from my 2010 Rubi to put on his 2007 Sahara. He had to drill.
