Rugged Ridge Mirror Relocation Brackets - WTF? Need Help.
The Quality Control on these suck. It's a great design with bad execution.
I had a similar set of mirror movers on my TJ and loved them. I only put them on the driver's side and left the passenger mirror on the door. It looks a little funky at first, but that way you have fully functioning mirrors all the time- you just have to accept having no passenger mirror when the doors are off, or put the bracket on the passenger side and move them back and forth.
I'm going to take mine by a machine shop and see if they can open up the threads on the filler plates.
How can someone come up with such a great concept and have such horrible follow-through and expect to stay in business??

I just went out and bought a tap & die set for about $40 to tap out the filler plate holes so the stock mirror bolts would fit.
I know, I was kind of pissed too that they didn't fit right out of the box but I figure I can use the t & d set for other things too.

I will have to say this is the best mirrow relocation bracket I have owned for the JK. the first set was WP and it was crap! the mirrow shook like crazy and could not really see and you can't use the door with it. the second set i had was the quick disconnect and it maid noise like crazy and the driver side kept falling off. The only thing i don't like about RR bracket is that it doesn't line up and I didn't have any issue using the bolts to install the bracket.
After a few hrs of work with the Dremel and a trying several bolt combinations- it is on and looks/works great. I only put on the driver's side so I could have 2 functioning mirrors when the doors are on. Like I said before, great design- horrible execution. It should work properly right out of the box!
I was just looking at these so I could take my doors off. Now Im scared, I do not want to by a POS. Is there anything better? I planned to take the brackets on and of with the doors. Never planned on using the fillers.

I use these and have no problem what so ever, when I put the doors back on I switched the passenger side mirror back to the door, one bolt, I left the rr bracket on, the filler plates go on no problem with the bolts that came with the kit not the stock bolts that held the mirror on.
I just put my relocation Brackets on yesterday and MAN... What a pain! First... the factory bolts wouldn't go into the cover plate! It started rethreading... so we backed off it and used a slightly larger drill to open up the threads on the plate... and a dremel to clean off any gunk/paint on the inside. ...Still had to force them on and then stripped the Torx head off of the bolt! Luckily, they're tight enough to keep the water out... but I'll have to drill out the bolt and buy a replacement bolt for the factory one if I ever decide to put the mirrors back on the doors. Guess I should have read this thread before buying the damn things!
Hey guys, I had this problem in January when I first got them, pissed me off. This is what you have to do:
Silver bolts from the kit are used on the filler plate.
One black bolt from your old mirror frame is used to secure the mirror to the bracket, as the stock one from the bottom of the mirror post is too short. If you use the longer bolt the mirror should be sucked down into the cylinder, and will be wedged there. It should be tapered like the post is.
I tried using the directions and was sent the "revised instructions"when I called and complained. Put the two sets of directions together and wipe your a** with them, that about what they are worth.

Hm.... something tells me one of you guys might misconstrue this statement...
Although the instructions suck, the product seems to work pretty well. I only put on the drivers side, but I'd like to try to find some thumb screws and then I can put on the passenger side bracket as needed. Actually, though, I really didn't miss it much this weekend...
