Do it right man, seriously. Lift, tires and gears are pretty much one symbiotic mod because each dictates to the next. Headers are an add-on, a fluffy, feel good performance mod.

You want to keep your RPM ranges close to stock for the drivability of the Jeep. When you change tires, your RPMs drop, the engine has to work harder, more wear and tear. Gears aren't exciting, they don't sound great, no cool stickers, no bling, but they are one of the single best mods you can do in terms of performance. Do the gears, and THEN do the superchips, ripp headers and you'll thank yourself for it.

I asked him whats all included and he said shocks, springs, front swaybar shock, and some 6-way adjustable component. Does this sound about right?

Anyway, I wanted to ask about the superchip. What it is and how is it installed and how much will it cost.

Thanks guys.

If you have any friends in your area that have Jeeps, see if they can help and do it yourself. Host an installation party and by them pizza and beer. It's a great way to meet fellow Jeepers in your area and learn a lot about your Jeep. Check on the forum for the Discount Tire Direct rep. He'll set you up with a good deal on tires and wheels that can be installed at a Discount Tire store.

As for the Superchip, you don't install it. You plug it into your ODB-II port and reprogram your ECM with it. The programmer saves your stock ECM program internally and allows you to return it to stock whenever you want to.

Hope this helps. PM me if you have anymore detailed questions. I'll be glad you help you out.

Price all depends on what you are buying. You can go budget or top of the line. I went somewhere in the middle. Depending on the components, $4K is not bad. The price depends on what 3" Teraflex lift, tires, and wheels you are getting and whether you are installing the lift or paying someone else to do it. I spent almost $2600 for five 35" BFG KM2 tires with five Rugged Ridge Satin Black wheels. My 3.5" Rock Krawler Mid Arm Suspension with the Ultimate Steering Upgrade, shocks, HD Tie Rod, and alignment cost me over $3200 installed. So my setup cost almost $6K. When I was looking at the Teraflex PreRunner kit, I was given a quote of $6K from one mechanic and $6.1K from another one and that was just the suspension without tires and wheels. Just for kicks, I priced out a coilover setup with an EvoLever rear and it was about $14K installed. I decided on Rock Krawler because I think I got more for my $6K. $4K could be reasonable depending on what you buy.

Roadking agrees with Roadking on this one.

All depends on what you're purchasing and installing....so I would definitely know everything the shop is planning on installing and the labor cost break out.

Another option would be to research on the forum the many lift possiblities, find out what's best for you (quality & cost) and then see if the installation shop will install the parts you buy for a better deal from one of our forum sponsors. Or look for forum members in your area to help you install them yourself.

My wheels, tires, and lift components cost $4K without installation cost. So it all depends.

The last thing you want is to get screwed on installation costs and find out you're missing components you wish you had, like adj trackbars or arms.

Thanks. Yes he quoted me $4K installed and I asked for BFG A/T tires but not sure on what rims I would want yet. I asked about wheel spacers and he said you should never user spacers and just get the correct wheels that stick out far enough. What different Teraflex kits do they have that I should get or stay away from?

He said he was putting the adj trackbars with the kit. They do these same kits for the Jeep dealers out here so I guess I just am assuming it will be done right if the dealer is going to warranty all this. But I just don't have the time to be looking for parts and finding someone to install everything. The dealer referred me to this shop because they work for them and do all their lifts. And I think I am getting a deal because I have seen some Jeeps for sale on the lot that have these kits and tires and wheels and they add another $10 K onto the sticker price.

Default Gears?

Also I will mostly be just driving on the roads and freeways, so should I get the new 4.xx or 5.xx gearing or will my 3.73 be OK? What does the new gearing cost to have it done? I have the auto trans.

For all those guys telling you 3.73 and 35's are fine don't know what they are missing, sorry but the superchip, intakes, exhausts are no match for the performance you get from a regear, not even close, nada. Best money spent on my rig was proper axle gearing.
My sentiment exactly. Stop the insanity and do this stuff right!

I know what you are talking about. I have a 2008 X 2dr 6 speed. I put a 2.5 lift with 35 x 12.5 x 17 tires and wheels, and regeared to a 4.88 ratio. What a difference from the stock 3.21!! Regear as soon as possible!!!!!!
