Angry Rustys Front Radius Control Arm System Bushing Issues

Ok I have a JK complete control arm system. The Kit is about a year old.
The Bushings need to be replaced so i call rustys they said the TJ bushings fit. So I ordered in 4 Moog TJ bushings. I got the Bushings Pressed the old ones out. Went to put the new ones in and you can push the new ons in by hand so i go to jeep dealer and get the OEM ones they do same a little harder to install but still too loose to stay in the arm.

Rusty's uses a Oversized Bushing. I called the back they offered to sell me a bushing at $13.00 each I'm not spending that on a junk bushing that will fail again withing 5k miles. You would think with the cost of the arms they would use a good bushing.
Has anyone found a decent bushing that fits. Right Now i have a full set of control arms with no bushings sitting in the garage.
Yes i have read the thread on welding the bushings in but with the way a radios arm works I'm sure i will have to replace again in a year,

I wonder why they told you to use TJ bushings. I replaced both my bushings recently on my Rusty's arms with JK specific OEM's and they fit tight.

OEM doesn't mean factory oem.
When a company produces a product most parts are considered OEM because they are the manufacture.

unfortunately, this is not necessarly a bushing issue but rather, it's an issue caused by radius arms.

radius arms are great on vehicles like desert race trucks where you have big vertical travel of the axle. however, by it's design, radius arms are in a state of bind the moment you try to force them to articulate. if you were to disconnect the radius arms at the frame, they would stand straight out like a diving board like this...

in fact, if you were to grab each end of the radius arms and try to push them in opposite directions, you would find it very difficult to do as your axle holds them firmly in place. think of your sway bar - not the links but the actual sway bar itself - it is basically a torsion bar that wraps around with 2 arms that the links are attached to. that's essentially what your front axle and radius arms are like only, your axle is no torsion bar and it will not twist. there are companies that have made axles that allow for this kind of rotation but without it, you have bind. using bigger bushings will help prevent them from failing prematurely but, regardless of how big they are or where they are made, flexing your jeep will cause them to fail again.

I understand the Inherent Issue with them and why the bushing failed because of bind.
I might Just Cut off the upper mount and run the lowers only on my wires Jeep.
I wish i would of purchased a 4 link kit now but everything is a learning experience.

a lot of people have done something similar to this in the past - kill the upper links in favor of real upper arms and run the lowers as is.

Deja vu.

Search for radius arms and look for a thread on 8/11/2011

Wayoflife's post was a cut and paste. Heh

Forum consensus is to stay away from radius arms.

I personally stay away from Rusty's because of all the issues they had customer service wise back in the early 2000's.

Selling you a new bushing to replace their
failed one after only a year for $13.00 each seems pretty wrong if you ask me.
