Default Rusty's Off-road

Does anyone out there have fairly recent first hand information about Rusty's service and products?

I have been searching endlessly for a lift kit for my '12 JKUR that will fit my needs. I am looking in the 2.5"-3.5" range, and right now would like to do a "budget" type lift that I can build on in the future. I am trying to keep it around $500 for now. For the last few weeks I have been sold on the Teraflex 2.5" spring lift. I can get the kit with the shock extenders (my rubi shocks dont even have 3000 miles on them) and get it for under $500. Although I think the kit would benefit from at least some front lower adjustable arms and a front adjustable trackbar, it abviously will do as is. I really like Rock Krawler, but they dont really have a budget kit persay (almost double the price, and no shocks yet).

But, then I came across Rusty's 3.25" budget lift Rusty's JK Wrangler 3.25" Basic Kit - JK Wrangler & Rubicon ('07+) - Jeep Suspension Lift Kits - Jeep Suspension . It comes with...
• Front Coil Springs
• Rear Coil Springs
• Front Adjustable Track Bar
• Rear Adjustable Track Bar
• Front Hydro Performance Shocks
• Rear Hydro Performance Shocks
• Brake line extensions
• Front Sway Bar Links

I really like the fact that it has shocks (although most likley not too desireable) and front and rear adjustable track bars, and its all for $550. And I could easily add their control arms/components (or other brands I guess) down the road when I can afford it.

So, my question is does anyone have first had info with Rusty's? I have been doing alot of research on them, and have found a bunch of older threads all over the web. Just nothing very recent. My concerns are with the many complaints I have read about in the past. There was one review type of site I found that had endless complaints (and a few customers that were very happy) that has flat out scared the hell out of me from buying anything from them right now.

Anyone run there lift or products? Good, bad?

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't put any money into shocks that aren't bilstein 5100 or better... If you are buying a lift kit that comes with all that plus shocks, they can't be that great of shocks.

I like your first idea of running the shock extenders until you are ready to pay for the better shocks

I really like my Bilstein 5100s...they look and ride great, price is decent, as well.

I've HAD Rusty's stuff ( lift kit) but on my KJ not JK & it's good quality stuff as far as I'm concerned no fitment isssues or long term issues, wheeled it pretty hard & often too, ran it 7yrs
this probably doesn't help any but thought I'd put it out there

I have rustys 2.5 coils for about a year now. I like them a lot. Service is great. Springs have a better ride then my stock jku. No probs what so ever. I think best lift for the money

I have had the 3.25" lift on mine for over 2 1/2 years, with zero complaints. For the money you can't beat it. To me it rides as good as stock with the shocks it came with, and I have no reason to replace them with better ones until they wear out. It flexes good off road, and the springs and track bars have held up great. It initially gave me about 4" of lift. IMO this is a great kit for the money to start with and build from, and add to down the road. I recommend it. Also it is American made and not mass produced in China like most of the other inexpensive lifts. I have talked to Rusty personally and to me he seemed like a good guy that takes pride in his products, and likes to wheel like many of us. I would definitely buy from him again

If they offered the kit without shocks I very well would consider it (and get some shock extenders). I am not planning on the shocks being that great... I would almost bet the stock rubi shocks are better than the cheap Rusty's ones. The thing I like about this kit more than the Teraflex is the two adjustable track bars (instead of a rear bracket and nothing for the front with TF).

Helps a lot, thanks! Good experience and feedback about them is a good thing.

Sweet, so you actually run this exact kit then? Any alignment/shimmy issues with no lower control arms in the front (or did you put some in)?

Thanks all! As of last night I was taking several "steps back" about this kit, but now I am taking a few steps forward again.

Anyone else running his stuff?

This is the exact kit that I started out with and I have added the front lower control arms. As previously mention I have had no issues with the kit itself or the install. I have only had the kit on my JK for about three months so I can not attest to longevity of the kit but so far so good. I even had a great experience when calling them to ask questions about other products they sell for the JK. Hope this helps!
