So, I said ok...if I can't get these certain gussets to work, I'll go with the "knuckle" type, like PUREJEEP or Teraflex, but I am also concerned I would run into the same issue.

I spoke to someone at PUREJEEP and they suggested I email them detailed pictures and they will give me their insight as to perhaps grinding/triming part of the gusset for it to work. I emailed the pics to Sales@purejeep.com
It looks like you would need to grind a bit of the C-Spine in order to fit. Since you have to grind off the paint on the axle housing for prep it shouldn't be to big of an issue.
