I stumbled upon front and rear axles out of an 08 3500 dodge today and was almost given them. This could get interesting. Click image for larger version

Me either. I got them for $300. I'm planning on 5:38 gears and lockers. I'll need new wheels, new drive shafts, a new master cylinder for the bigger calipers and of course some new tires. I probably won't start tackling them for a few months, but I just couldn't pass them up for that price

Something tells me you'll be ok running 40's with these! Great price as well!

Really curious to see how you use a passenger side front axle. What's the plan?

It's not, that pic is looking at the bottom of the axle. Notice the lower control arm bracket and the shock in the pic.
He's a pic looking from the top

Yep, see that now. Should be interesting. Can't say I recall a build using Dodge axles.

I can't recall one either which is strange because some have d80 rears and d60 fronts. Axles are beast

There are some supposedly undesirable items with the front Dodge axle, but I think that is based on older axles and the info isn't updated. The unit bearings have a bad rep. The unit bearings on these new axles are huge and will last a long time. Same with the ball joints. The real downside, especially with the Dodge axles, is that there is essentially no aftermarket for them. Even the 2010 Ford axles I am building have very limited support. I have to use 10.25 gears in my 10.5 rear axle. No one makes an aftermarket lockout up front, so it is either OEM or drive flanges (which only two shops make right now). Axle shafts are a custom order item. No one makes brackets for a 3.75" OD axle tube. And the list goes on. It gets expensive, fast.

Damn. Might be sticking to my original 14b and d60 plan. Seems easier and cheaper
