Security for Winch
The cheap fix that comes to mind is to use longer bolts. On the part of the bolt that sticks through the nut, just drill a hole throught the bolt shaft/threads and use the correct size roll pin. Sure they could remove it but it is going to take a fair amount of work...and hammering. If you really want that secure, just bend the roll pins so that they cannot be pounded out. Alternately, you could just destroy the treads after the nut so that it has to be ground off....
I have a mopar bumper and it has a cross tube that bolts to the left and right frame rail on the back side of the winch. These bolts are a beoch to put in and remove so probably the best security because you cannot pull the bumper until you remove these 2 bolts.
I know others bumper makers offer this style as well. It is a good design because it adds more structure for pulling on when winching.

The tuffy bolt locks are a fairly simple and straight forward deterrent(I'm running 2 on my power plant), but as it's been said, if someone wants something bad enough they will find a way to take it. I hate to be that guy, but that is what theft insurance is for.
I use the Tuffy Bolt locks.
I also have my bumper/Winch and even my Snorkel insured! Was only $30 more every six months
My insurance company actually thought is was cool that I had a winch and a snorkel!

i have a Mopar Front winch bumper with a Warn 9.5ti....i sometimes leave my jeep in a parking lot for 8 to 10 hours carpooling to work...because i spent more than $1000 bucks for a winch this time ive started thinking of a way to secure it...my best idea i have so far is a front skid plate to cover the 4 bolts on the bottom which would slow a thief down or sway him for jacking with it.....ideas and/or pics of what you have done or thought of? iwant to steer clear of welding or tacking a plate over the screws...thx for the ideas and help in advance
All joking aside, for someone who didn't know how it was bolted, it'd be a 30 minute - 1 hour job, minimum, if for no other reason than your average thief isn't going to be carrying around mid-length extensions and a socket set. The skid definitely makes it more of a challenge, but even dealing with the bumper alone would be a pain in the rear if you didn't have the right tools. Not sure how the Mopar bumper is setup, but I wouldn't worry too much.If you're that concerned, just put some red loctite (271) on the threads before tightening the nuts. I _really_ doubt a thief is going to be carrying around a heating device, and if he/she is that determined, they'll just cut the damn thing off with a sawzall. Just be aware it's a real PITA with my setup to get to the bolts/nuts, so if you go the loctite route, be prepared for some work if you ever need to take the winch off yourself.
