Default Shock extenderes on BB

Hi all, trying to pick out a BB for my friends 2014 JKUS, he wants to go a little bigger tires maybe 33 he doesn't want any fender mods, this is a mail crawler if any off road road it will be dirt roads at the best ????? He loves his Jeep but wants a small lift and taller wider tires but he doesn't want to mess his ride quality. So I was looking at a BB from Teraflex or AEV. My biggest end question is shock choice, it seems to be a shame wasting good money on a set of Bilstein's or Rancharo's for a mail crawler so how does everyone feel about the shock extensions that come with the kits, my gut tells me since he is not going off road or heavy off road he should be ok. I have never been a fan and when I did my BB I installed shocks along with it. any and all input is welcome.... Thanks guys

I have often wondered if there is any disadvantages to running shock extenders ass far as articulation goes. seems like you would be able to get more droop and maybe less up travel but not sure.

Been running TERA BB with shock extensions for about 6k miles now. Drives pretty much like stock on stock rim/tires. After adding 35's, it felt heavier but after about a week- don't even feel it anymore. Same here, by the way. Mall crawler, 2012, JKU, Auto, 3.21.

(I did go with a "light" rim/tire combo. 17" XD Addicts/ 315/70/17 - General Grabbers AT2's)

I've been running shock extensions for 3 years with no issues. First a 2"bb on 33s, then 2.5" coils, then trimmed fenders and 35s on my jkus. I just picked up a new jkr and swapped everything over to it. I will say new rubi shocks are stiffer than older sport shocks. Ive been doing light rock crawling with both rigs with no concerns. I hit trails around 2.5 - 3 / 5.

I will say with my Tera 2.5 BB and shock extensions it rides like crap now. I've wheeled it really hard and stock Rubi springs are sagging and I've blown 2 stock shocks. With the spacer and bumpstops I have 1-2" (if that. I've never really measured but that's what it looks like) of uptravel in my suspension. Which means on the street I bottom out on the smallest of bumps. Not a good ride at all. I'd say upgrade the shocks if he's not going to wheel at all.

When I did my bb I got some bilstein shocks and I'm very happy I did. The extenders that came in the rough country bb didn't look like they could handle much so I went with a bigger shock. Little more money to spend but I say it's worth it if you get a nice shock

Shock extension will work fine but he does not need to run a lift at all to run 33's on a mall crawler. If he wants the look of a lift and keep the factory ride, trimmed or flat fenders is the route to go otherwise I would not go over a 3/4"-1" spacer and no shock extensions would be needed.
