Shock extenderes on BB
Shock extension will work fine but he does not need to run a lift at all to run 33's on a mall crawler. If he wants the look of a lift and keep the factory ride, trimmed or flat fenders is the route to go otherwise I would not go over a 3/4"-1" spacer and no shock extensions would be needed.
If its a mall Crawler (nothing wring with that) then it shouldn't matter. He's not flexing it or beating on it on the trails, then just get a bb and be don't with it. Or like other guy said, get a 1" and. 75" spring spacer puck and be don't with it
Jadmt : I'm running a 2.5" TF BB with the shock extensions and I have decent amount of up travel. My 35s tuck well into the fenders. In my case they don't limit the up travel, the bump stops do.

Shock extensions should not do anything to change your overall articulation or travel. You are right on your measurements and you should also add as much extra bump stop as you do with the extensions so you don't bottom out the shocks.
