neither. I'd go with Bilsteins or Fox 2.0 depending on what you do with your rig.

Krawl Off Road has the Bilsteins for $80/each. Can't go wrong

I'm holding out for the ultra-cool 6Pak shocks from MetalCloak.

Not your everyday shock. Allows 14" of stroke with a 14" fully collapsed length.
Not inexpensive but shocks will no longer be a limiting factor in wheel travel.

Pro comp 9000 gets a bad rap from people who never used them. I had them on my ford and suburban and they were really good. I'm getting a set this spring for my jku. I expect the Sam ride from them.

Any gas shock will way out perform any old school low end hydro shock. I ran Rough Country 2.0's, junk. Ran Bilstein 5100's, an awesome all around affordable gas shock. Great ride on and off road. Currently on Fox 2.0 remote res shocks. They are a bit stiffer than the Bilstein's on road, but off road they soak up everything especially at speed and harder hits. Any gas charged shock will make a huge improvement.
