I had a helper. I was a bit nervous on getting the holes drilled in the right spot, the second set of eyes gave me peace of mind. We drilled the hole with a battery operated drill with a good bit. The drill was NOT right angled. Take your time. The first one might go slow... the second very quick.

Good luck.

Remember wben drilling metal to turn the bit at VERY SLOW speed (RPMs) or you will dull out your bit FAST.

Here are my recommendations from installing the same rails :

1) Had to buy a drill with more power

2) Not being used to a drill that powerful - While drilling for the rails, the unibit caught and the drill torqued, spun, and slammed my finger into the pinch seam. That hurt like a mfer.

Thanks for the input...while I understand all of the advice regarding the drilling, it's the access I'm worried about. Looking at this picture from the writeup:

It seems this is impossible with a regular drill and you NEED to use a right angle. Did EVERYONE use a right angle? How can you get a unibit in here it seems like such a tight spot?

I don't like surprises. If I NEED a right angle I guess I'll have to go get one, but I don't wanna do that if I can use my regular drill ya know...nor do I want to get started and find out it won't work!

Highly recommend a drill with some power behind it. Tried briefly with my 18V. Had to borrow and friends drill with some ass behind it.

I own a right angle drill adapter--but didn't use it. I used a straight drill and didn't have any access problems. I did use cobalt bits (don't own a Unibit).
