ShrockWorks and Lighting
OK, after months of looking at the different bumpers available for the JK I have finally decided to go for the Shrockworks Stubby!! I really hate giving up my factory fogs, but this bumper is the one for me. I'm looking for opinions on aftermarket fogs. I see lights for as much as $500 bucks and can't beleive it. What is a good light to mount on the bumper, that will give good lighting but will not break the bank??? While were on the subject, are the really expensive lights just for the housings or does it cost so much to replace the bulbs if needed? Sorry, kinda dumb about these things.
Also, can I use the factory wiring and switch on the turn signal indicator to run aftermarket lights. I'm, sure there is a relay there somewhere.

Have you looked at the Shrockworks mid-length bumper that uses the factory fogs?
I was told that you could not use the factory fog wiring with aftermarket fogs unless they were less than 35W. Hopefully, someone more knowledgible than I will post with certainty.

A lot of the quality difference is in the reflector & housing. The bulbs on major brand lights are similar...unless we are talking HID. Better refectore will give a better beam pattern.
Do you want a fog light, a driving beam light or a combo light? There aren't many combo lights. The PIAA 525's have a great fog beam and a decent driving beam. The overall quality on the PIAA stuff is excellent. The Hella 500 lights are a really good light for the money....i.e they are cheap and they put out a decent amount of light.
You could run FOG lights off the factory switch, but you will need to use a relay and use the stock wring only to trigger the relay.
