Side marker replacement?
ok i bought the smoker led side markers and blinkers. now the blinkers went in fine. how the heck do i get the side markers off? it dosent seem to want to come out. im trying hard not to break it here also. has anyone done this?
Download the PDF instructions for these: Rugged Ridge Side Marker Light Guards from Quadratecs site, the install instructions show how to remove it.
A company called RECON (gorecon.com) makes them.
I am unsure if any of the sponsors carry them.

Its a real pain trying to get those side markers out, you need to pull the rivet closest to the marker that holds the under armor to the fender flare out and try to save it. Then you need to seperate the under armor from the fender flare by carefully pulling it towards the drivers door while pulling the flare outwards. After that you still need to seperate the the fender flare and armor enough that you can pull the side marker out, the clip on the top of the marker and the part where the bulb sticks in on the marker are the big problems because its hard to seperate the armor and flare enough to get it out especially by yourself. Call up a buddy and get him to give you a hand because its literally a two man job, unless you wanna remove the under armor completely which is a real pain in the a$$, also I recommend doing it in a garage or on a warmer day, plastic will break pretty easy in the cold.
Its way cheaper to pull the turn signals and side markers out and tint them yourself. All you need is an 800 grain auto sandpaper, a can of VHT Nite Shades and a can of Dupli Color Truck/Van/SUV top coat clear coat. Cost me $35 and it turned out great. You only need the clear coat if you want the clear/shiny finish on them, otherwise you can leave them looking flat. Search the forum for "Side Marker" or "Signal Light" and you should see a bunch of threads about how to do this, its a heck of alot cheaper then buying them from gorecon.com or ebay.

On the top you'll notice the single tab, this is the tricky one. Like the other poster said you'll have to seperate the outer fender from the inner one and try to squeeze it out. When I was putiing in the new ones I broke the tabs by accident but the went in just fine anyways made it easier, and they don't move at all.
my brother also suggested instead of using those blue wire splicer thingies to just slice a bit of the wire and solder it on.
