Skid Plate Question
I'm looking at getting skid plates for the Jeep. When I bought it used late last year it didn't have any protection underneath it. I've been hesitant to take it out and do much wheeling until I get a few skid plates on it. I've got around $300-$500 to spend on them. What brand would ya'll recommend ? What area (evap canister, oil pan, transmssion, etc..?). Thanks in advance.

you'll forgive me but, your jeep should have come with a gas tank and t-case skid plate right from the factory and if you have an auto, one for it as well. what comes from the factory is all you need and they will protect your jeep just fine. to this day, it is all that i and everyone i wheel with run with the exception for a rancho skid on the oil pan - the only thing not protected out the door. regarding your evap, i personally would recommend relocating it over installing a skid but then, i haven't done either. if anything, i might recommend a rock krawler hd tranny pan over even the factory skid as it'll give you more clearance, allow you to run more fluid and has a drain plug.
Well that's what I thought too. I didn't really pay much attention to it when I bought it. Having screaming kids running around kinda causes you to lose focus and not pay attention to things. But after I got it home and looked they weren't there. I called the dealership where I got it from and inquired about it and was told the previous owner had them remove the skids because he was going to put aftermarket skids on there. I guess when he traded it back in the took them off or never put them on in the first place.
My previous Jeep had the skids on it 2007 JKU but this one (2011) doesn't. That's why I'm asking.
