Default Skyjacker Trac bar relocation bracket...

Has anybody out there had the same problem with the Skyjacker Trac bar relocation/stabilizer shock bracket?

i am sorry to hear about your break and glad to know you are okay. a break like this could have resulted in something tragic.

unfortunately, yes, there have been A LOT of people who have had this problem both up front and in the rear. the bracket essentially acts as a lever and works the factory mount back and forth until metal fatigue tears it off. IF you are going to install a track bar relocation bracket, you really need to get one that attaches to the frame mount OR one that is reinforced on the axle like the one currie makes where it gets welded on.

Yep. Seen it happen several times now, but more times on the rear one than the front (but have seen both). I installed an adjustable front trackbar on my JK to avoid that very thing when I installed my lift. My rear trackbar has the bracket that mounts to the frame...again, to avoid that issue. As WOL stated, if you are going to use relocation brackets, get the ones that mount to the frame. Although I believe that now, several lift companies have a new design for the axle bracket so that breakage won't occur. Your best bet is to just get adjustable trackbars, and then you shouldn't have any issues at all. Good luck, and glad nothing bad happened when it broke.

hey wrnglrguy, i see that landshark has a 4" lift and if he has a dropped pitman arm, he would actually need to have some kind of track bar relocation bracket. without one, your track bar and drag link will not be parallel to each other and this would give you other problems. if he does not have a dropped pitman arm, an adjustable track bar would be the better way to go as you have suggested.

True. Good point.

thanx guys...it's fixed now, Offroad Unlimited (Tom Barow) here in Houston hooked me up ( will post pics soon) but I am curious. It cost me $800+ to get it fixed, if this is a design problem shouldn't skyjacker be liable? They should at least put out a recall on the bracket.

holy cow $800?!!!

unfortunately, i think your SOL. when everyone was breaking their rear brackets off, skyjacker came out with a brace that attaches to the diff and this helped but they still made people buy it. i can only guess that there hasn't been enough people who have experienced this problem yet to address it. either way, you should inform them of your problem as it might force them to address it now and help others interested in buy their kit.

I have had the exact same issue. I have the skyjacker lift with the relocation brackets front and rear. Both brackets were sheered off, with a week of each other, and had to be re-welded. I added the jks support gusset to the rear, and had a custom gusset made for the front. I spoke the folks at jks and they are coming out with replacements for both the front and rear factory brackets that should be a lot stronger. Also, Skyjacker is now offering some supports that attached the the d44/d30 housing. Seems like the design needed to be more thought out.

Without a doubt. Skyjacker's lucky no one has been seriously injured because of their design.

Mine broke the last time that I went out to Moab...broke on Kanes Creek...talk about a pain in the butt...did pritchet canyon, and then it brakes on Kanes creek. Luckly, I was wheeling on a simple trail, and not on the road leading to it, along the colorodo river. I was Wheeling with my cousin who has an old cj, and we took off one of his rear seat belts, bolted to the freestanding skyjacker Trackbar mount (now that it was sheared off), and bolted the other side to the axle. Then, wrapped the seat belt around and latched it together. Held up better than expected, long enoght to get back to the dirt road at the begaining of Kanes creek. Anyways...That and having to replace Control arm bushings every 5oo miles among other things has me now installing a new 6 inch long arm, not skyjacker. You live and you learn
