Default Snapping noise from front end

Hey guys I have a snapping sound coming from front end, it only happens in reverse and sounds like its coming from passenger side. I looked at the c-clips and they look fine.

Anyone have any idea? Thanks

I'd say an axle u-joint if you hadn't said that it only happens in reverse.

Could just be something loosened up... My track bar bolts always loosen up and as soon as I hear the popping/snapping noise, I have to tighten them down again with a pry bar too. I would first check all nuts/bolts just to eliminate it from the equation. Strange that it only happens in reverse. Could also be the brake caliper hanging up or skipping?

My money would be on the track bar. Mine pops and snaps whenever it loaded (braking quickly) or unloaded ( accelerating or going in reverse)... If you have the full traction bar, they're known to be pretty noisy

the track bars should make noise if they are greased properly,
I was going to guess U-joints as well.

have you retorqued your suspension bolts?

Default Noise??

I had a clunking noise in the front end and found one side of the lower swaybar link was loose. I tighten both sides and Locited them no more problems.

everything feels fine when I turn wheel, happens whether or not I turn wheel when backing up. I've looked at the front suspension, everything looks tight but I will double check with torque wrench.

if the u-joint is going would I see anything?

Do you have an auto? have you replaced them?

I will re-torque everything tomorrow. I havent been wheeling for about the last 20,000mi but thats since august, those NJ to NC trips rack up the miles .....I have changed the brakes at about 21k and re-checked everything with them a few weeks ago.

I do have an auto and the driveshafts look fine.

Thanks guys!

If you have stock driveshafts, That would be thats the issue.

the front driveshaft boot ring is hitting your tranny, take another look.
