while it does look like a food processor, another benefit of the aev snorkel is the fact that it does a great job of acting as a pre-filter.

the ram style looks way better but, i have seen how amazingly well the pre-filter works and, if i had this setup, i think i'd have to run it too.

Default AEV Snorkel

I have not noticed any loss of power, I have noticed a minor improvement in MPG.
It's a clean instal and fairly easy. I think its a great kit, for what it's worth.

I have the AEV and I love it. Great quality product. As for deciding to go with the pre-filter or the ram intake you need to kind-of decide what type of terrain that you will primarily be wheeling in. If you plan on going through alot of dusty trails, or sandy locations, then by all means, get the pre-filter/coffee maker. Otherwise get the ram intake. Either way, you can't go wrong.

I have the ram, but I have been meaning to pick up the pre-filter because it is only 86 bucks last time I checked.

Saw an all-white JK with AEV snorkel and pre-filter in a parking lot earlier today. Very nice. I've been leaning towards the AEV snorkel but was at a loss about ram or pre-filter. I like the idea of a pre-filter (I've spent a lot of time in dust) but was concerned about how it would look. Having seen it i person I'm sold.

One question (not to hijack the thread): Does the tip trim needed for the pre-filter (mentioned in the install PDF) remove your ability to switch to the ram?
