Snorkel intake run into cab?
Yesterday I was talking to a vendor on the forum about a "custom" set-up on a snorkel system. One option we were discussing was to cut through the firewall and route the intake into the cab. The aesthetics of this option appeal to me as I don't really want a snorkel visible if I can get the same, or similiar benefits without the "look" of a typical snorkel.
I have a few questions though....
1. I know I will get some noise from the intake - any ideas on how much?
2. 1/2 of the benefit of a snorkel system is the reduction of dust into the airbox. Will I lose this benefit entirely? It seems like the cab of the truck stays relatively "dust-free" compared to the outside. Am I wrong?
3. Will I get the same, or similiar HP gains that the typical system might offer? I would be drawing the air from outside the engine compartment... but, still not as cool as "outside" air.
4. I have never had any fuel-injected vehicle backfire. Can they? If so, would I end up dumping unburnt fuel (vapors at least) into the cab?
I'm posting this here as I am interested in all the knowledge and experience out there. Please give me your thoughts.

Alright... then any ideas on placing intake somewhere other than at the roof-line? Thanks for quick replies.
Unless you leave your top on all the time your windshield is the most consistently high spot for a snorkel. I figure that is why they are always mounted by the windshield. The only other option that I can think of, right now, is to route duct to the back of the Jeep and build a stack or snorkel tube that mounts to the rear of the vehicle. But dont ask me how I would route the duct work, cuz I don't know.

Just an idea to toss out there that just hit my little brain, if you're trying to hide the snorkel maybe you could use a light bar to hide it somehow...
just tossing out ideas since thats what you're fishing for.

ok what are the reasons you actually want a snorkel for?
I dont understand how you would think putting it inside a vehicle would allow any air FLOW to get to it and then get to the engine
