Could someone measure how high the top of the snorkel stands over the top of the windshield header? I park in my 100 year old barn and don't have a ton of extra overhead room after the tires and lift.

A ram air snorkel has drains on the top for water to come right out. Snow won't go threw the weep holes but spinning it backwards would keep the snow out.

I've had my AEV snorkel through one relatively light NY winter, no issues driving with snow or heavy rain.

At a Jeep meet I spoke with a snorkel manufacturer (not AEV) who detailed how the engine's high temp burns off rain water that gets into the hood pipe, and also the flexible connecting pipe is grooved to trap water which then burns off. Makes sense to me !

I went with AEV as is/was the only JK snorkel that can be used together with dual batteries and windshield lights.

Thanks, when looking at price I keep wanting to go with the cheap Chinese one, but when I look at what is at stake of anything goes wrong, I think the extra money to get the original is the better choice. Plus, go USA. does anyone know if they are selling at any discount anywhere? I've seen them on sale before, it doesn't look like I can find any sales right now.

A bit of water is no big deal. Used to have a water/mist injection to help cool down intake temps on a kenne bell super charger for the ZJ/WJ. http://jeepsunlimited.com/zj/aquamist/

Doing some research shows this type of purposeful water introduction is common for performance junkies with some type of forced induction.

Sent from some string and a few tin cans.

AEV installed. Ended up having a friend who does body work put it on. I was too hesitant to attempt the cut. Well worth it. I'm surprised by the quality of the plastic. It'll be awhile before I get to try it out, but at least I'll have it if I run into more unexpected water. This is very possible with all the rain we have been getting in NH.
