Default snorkels

Who is running snorkels? What brands? and goods and bads. I really wanted to go with the River Raider, but putting a hole in the side fender in my opinion is worse than putting one in the hood.

Im running the AEV with Ram Air, cut a hole in the hood. no biggie really.

The good, increase water fording capability (I installed it really for piece of mind, dont plan on submarining the JK), added nice throaty engine sound. The jeep gets a lot of stares and compliments, the price was awesome from David @ Northridge4x4.com
my butt dyno thinks the jeep is faster, or at least sounds like it is...

The bad, the soft top flaps slightly on the highway >70 MPH.

AEV did not want to cut a hole in my fender. the AEV took under an hour to install. and looks and works great. although i have not gone in any water yet been to busy at work to do any wheeling it's all sealed up and ready to go. no problems to report here.

worse in the fender just my opinion. I don;t want to put a hole in the hood. but i know i can replace myself. I guess it is just the fact that i have NO CLUE how to switch a fender out or even where to buy new. hoods seem to be a dime a dozen so to speak . only my opinion

I've got an AEV snorkel and I like it a lot. The looks, the performance, the ease of the installation - it's a winning package.

Went with AEV and never looked back.....

I was scared I'd screw up the cut so I had a lacol bodyshop quote mr prices on replacements.
New hood $700....new fender $1250.....easy decision.

Now after I installed it I realized how stupid I was.....it was quite easy. Measure 3 times......build up the courage....cut once. Done deal.

hmm thats pretty pricey for a hood vs fender replacement seeing that the fender costs 200 less,I know its more labor involved but not $750 worth geez, I really would love to see the book time for the fender change, where is TINMAN... and if you can put a hood on, can put a bumper on, you can put a fender on.....I want to know of anyone thats ever owned a jeep that got rid of their snorkel????? I mean once you have it why would you need to be replacing the hood or fender yourself? makes no damn sense to me.

here ya go you can scare yourself by looking at the pics of my hole in fender

I absolutely LOVE my snorkel!
Yes, some people laugh at it, but I like the looks and lines of it better than any other available. Now that it's been tested, I'll probably go to the trouble to make a more presentable outer snorkel.
I've gotten noticable hp and mpg gains, and best of all...no water through intake.

This design incorporates a ram air system through a 3"wide high flow tunneling to the airbox, where a large cylindrical K&N filter hovers inside, allowing any accidental water that may come in through the top to collect below the filter without being sucked in.

The top is also reversible to aim backwards in heavy rain or water travel.

I'll post pics when I get to the studio, and gain access to a computer.

how does it restrict ariflow? and how does drilling holes in back of it help airflow? I think thats hurting airflow to the engine no? Umm you have a supercharger, and you needed holes in back of snorkel to help it? lol

I have no problems accelerating 60-80 without a supercharger
