Has anybody pre-ordered snrokels from the riverraider.com site yet? Curious if anyone's going for it and if there are any picts installed.

yeah I saw those at the PA Jeep Show this past Saturday. They did look sturdy...I wasn't too keen on the metal finish myself. But they did look nice if you like the metal look.

Default Arb

ARB is coming up with Safari Snorkel in two weeks time and they we all know they are the best.

I think David from Northrdige will be ordering soon. They will be limited quantity so hurry up before you loose the boat

And yes they look fantastic and work great.

So, what good is a snorkle unless you water proof everthing else? I'm just asking.
Your right about the electrical components are at risk in the water. Some other thoughts are a snorkel also has other benefits such as cooler air from out side the engine compartment and less dust, because the intake is sometimes higher than the dust trail that the vehicles in front of you are stirring up.

Any bad experiences with these? What about heavy rainfall (or snow), won't it suck in all the water, that can't be a good thing?

Great thread. Jeep Dog, their website says a choice of finishes, how was the one you saw finished?

Excellent questions Ruskin and HatchetMan.

Here's a couple more:
Other than the fact they look absolutely cool is there really an advantage for a regular Joe kind of four wheeler to have one?
The picture on the site looks like a hose, two hose clamps and the snorkel. How would it work with a cold air add on?

Question wait a minute... something is fishy...

Ok, is it me, or would getting this snorkel do nothing but lengthen the path the air has to take to the engine?? If I am reading the website correctly, all this does is provide a path to the air box from someplace else. Unless you water proof the air box, this is pointless. Am I wrong? Does this route the air strait to the intake manifold? Or does it come with a kit to seal the air box off completely? If this doesn’t seal the air box off, then it’s not going to do much about raising the height of the water you can cross. And if you want a type of cold air intake/ram intake, just get one of these:

RAM Air Scoop

Default Safari Snorkel

Ok time to jump in for little more description about snorkels

Safari Snorkel Systems are manufactured to the highest standards in durable, UV stable, cross linked polyethylene material and deliver a continuous and cooler supply of air for maximum engine performance. Each system includes quality fixtures and fittings that deliver superior sealing, OEM levels of presentation and long-term durability.

In addition, Safari Snorkels are positively sealed in order to provide the engine with the ultimate in protection during river crossings and dusty desert driving conditions.

All Safari Charge Air Rams feature a highly effective water separator system built right into the air ram in order to remove rain water from the incoming air stream - thus ensuring safe engine operation through even the most torrential tropical storms.

An added benefit of the unique Safari Charge Air Ram is that it can be rotated to any position. This means great peace of mind for those who plan to travel in cold or high altitude conditions where heavy snow falls are anticipated. By rotating the air ram to face away from the prevailing wind/direction of motion, the air ram delivers additional protection from the choking effects of snow build-up inside the air intake.

Safari Snorkels were twice awarded Best After Market Product of the Year by 4X4 Australia Magazine, and are distributed extensively in Australia and around the world.
