Default So, I am thinking of bedlining the cowl. thoughts?

A while back I accidentally made the newbie mistake of taking my door strap off, downhill...

Dented the side of the hood/end of cowl whatever you wanna call it.

Anyway, took it to get popped today for $75 figured why not if it bothers me and the guy popped it, but he couldnt get it perfect and he was not satisfied with it and didnt charge me. He did however get the actual divit of the dent out, it just left TINY ripples where they tapped it out and a slight 1/8" crack in the paint.

I ordered a u-pol raptor liner kit to do my side skirts and it dawned on me maybe it would look cool to do the cowl/sides of hood. It would make the dent non existent, and resistant from occurring again.

I have a black JKU, i assume the raptor stuff is pretty close in color with the obviously more rugged texture.

So what do you guys think? I also thought about doing just the hood sides of the cowl, and leaving the center grill portion undone.

I am worried the chip will eventually spread so i figured i would take care of it, and be unique at the same time.

I dented my right side cowl last month by making the same mistake. I used a little body filler to get rid of the dent, and used some duplicolor bed armor on just the cowl sides. I actually really like the way it looks. I wouldn't do the center section.

Do it!!! I used duplicolor rattle can and I'm very happy with the results. Washes easy and looks very clean with no runs or thick spots. As a side note used tire shine (turtle wax with UV protectant) to clean and restore plastic or redlined parts of your jeep. My lineX stuff is now over a year with no fading or mud stains. And I opted to not get the UV protectant seal when my lineX was installed. I did a post called darn you duplicolor if you want to see my results.

Good luck!

Default Here you go!

Here is a few photos of my cowl. I used duplicolor bedliner. Dupli color also has bedarmor which has a more textured finish and is thicker. I'd suggest the bedliner for body panels due to the easy of cleaning and the bedarmor for door guards/interior where the increased thickness helps with durability. If you have any questions pm me or just ask. All I did was scuff with a scotchbright pad clean with alcohol then spray. has held up now for over a year with no chipping. Looks as good as the day I sprayed the stuff on!

Hope this helps!

Thanks! Yeah, I wasn't so sure of the color when I got it. I got a really good deal so color took a backseat. Now that I've had it a year and the short run the color had I'm loving it! Still would have loved the mango but alas it wasn't meant to be. Maybe in a few years when the trail rash adds up I'll go mango! I think once I dump the stock rims/shoes and go black I'll be completely sold on my color. That's still 20k miles away... Can't justify ditching tires with good tread left.
