I have chromolly shafts in my Jeep already, but you're right about there being a ton of stress on those axles with the 40"s... And honestly I'm too n00b to know what the hub conversion kit would benefit me. Basically I'd be buying for the gears and lockers. I've heard a place in Cali will do the 5.13s for $1k out the door, then another $1700ish for the lockers would basically put me around the $3k I'd be paying, but without worrying about the stress on the axle from 40"s. Is the hub conversion and potential axle stress worth the price of these?

OR would I be better off getting and building up a prorock 44 with lockers and gears when I get there? I'm worried I might have to toss my RCV shafts if I do that though... tough decision

With your current hubs, the front axles/gears/driveshaft are always spinning, regardless of being in 2wd or 4wd. (not powered in 2wd, but always spinning) The manual hubs let you 'unlock' the front drivetrain when in 2wd, and lock it in manually when you want 4wd. This is a good thing, but a very expensive mod for most of us.

OR would I be better off getting and building up a prorock 44 with lockers and gears when I get there?
Somewhere around $4400ish deilviered to your door, geared with an arb and alloy inners. (Add another grand for rcv's?) If you have the money, go for it.

I'm worried I might have to toss my RCV shafts if I do that though...
Yep. D30 shafts won't work in a 44.

But you can sell your current axle to offset...

You can do lockers for $600 to $800 plus install, each axle, and your set, and the 4.10 gears are good to about 35 inch tires, especially if you get a Superchips Flashpac to make all good.

Other than that, what is is the $3 gs gets you? Gear ratio? on a Dana 30 5.38 is too low for daily driving imo. Lockers? What else? The hub conversion? Not that important to me, and the lug pattern thing is a pain.

Not such a great deal if it were offered to me.
I don't mean to sound rude, but I have to say; you do not know what you are talking about. On a JK auto, 5.13s are just right with 35s

Hm that's lots to think on. Is there a decent chance these things are stressed from having those giant friggn tires on em? I've heard it's been wheeled pretty hard too.

Yeah I didn't even think about it until it was mentioned they might be stressed. I know he wants to lose them cheap, so if he'd take half as much I might bite, but otherwise I'll save that money for my move and a new prorock or a motorcycle when I get to Cali >

Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate the replies and the community!
