I could be WAY wrong here..
But isn't the "replace a top" simply the fabric + windows, no hardware included.
IE: Assuming you have had a soft top previously and need to replace the fabric portion?

ur right. sux. I have a hardtop, but in Pittsburgh, since it rains just about everyday, we don't get long stretches in which I could take the full hardtop off - and we already cracked the tail-light putting it back on once...sheesh...3 wks old..
not keen on shelling out $1k for a softtop, but...

oddly enough, when I bought the rig, I thought it would come with both - the sticker listed the Sunrider top on the left column and the Freedom top on the right. So I thought I was golden. When I went to pick it up (delivered from another dealership). I noticed no soft-top (stupidly *after* I signed the check). I called the dealership and the GM explained the sticker and the misconception it presents and the whole idea behind the "Dual Top" pricing. He then said that I could buy the soft-top from them at the difference - which makes sense (had I talked with them before the deal, it woulda been fine). But now, when I talk to them they say "soft-top - $1500." (instead of the difference which woulda been $800+). So that, on top of the cracked taillight and the fact that when I got it home I noticed the rear bolt that secures the rear seat was not screwed (sticking up about an inch), I was not happy. Turns out the bolt was so messed up that it couldn't be screwed down - and they just left it that way. Took it to another local dealership (since the above "unmentioned" was about 2.5 hours away), and they replaced the bolt.

To make a long story way waaaaay way too long, when I tried to replace that bolt myself, checking the threading from below the Jeep, etc.. I got a metal frag in my eye - which resulted in phase 1: doc poking eye with needle to remove frags, and then phase/day 2: doc using mini-dremel to buff/burr out the rust that formed on my eye - fun-fun.

yeah, I know. "waaahhh" - just venting...

nevertheless, it's a Jeep and it rocks out loud. :-)
