I just went through what you're going through a couple months ago, heres what I found out doing a little research on this and other web sites. Stock Jeep wheels have a backspacing of 6.25. The largest tire you can run with 6.25 bs without rubbing is a 285/75/17. Since the backspacing on the rims your buying is 5.75, the tire will be moved out .50 in. which will give you even more clearance that the stock rims but your tires won't hang out past the fenders. One thing to consider is if you upgrade to bigger tires in the future, 5.75 backspacing will limit you as to tire size. I went with a 5" backspacing with 305/70/16 tires. Nothing rubs and the edge of the tread is even with the edge of my fender.Click image for larger version
