Default Spacer Lifts

I have been looking into a 2" lift,i would prefer coil springs but from what i have read they all give you more than 2". Spacer kits all seem a little diffrent, some come with bump stops and shocks and some say they are not needed. Can anyone with a 2" lift give me there opinion what is really needed .
I do not want to go more than 2",maybe 1" 3/4 . What would you reccomend ?

Thank You.

I think Daystar makes the smallest amount of BB lift. Tera gives you 2.5" front and back; Rubicon Express gives you 2.5" front and 1.75 back. Not sure about the rest

Well, you only NEED the bumpstop extensions which rob you of uptravel articulation if the new tires will be too big to fit into the wells under full stuffage.

ALL lifts with LONGER shocks will work better...as the longer shock lets the tire reach the ground...and all tires work better that way...so that's a good thing.

So, when you say "needed"...well, is ANY of the lift "needed"...are you doing the lift to accomplish a goal?

If so - the GOAL tells you what is needed....

Example - If you just want to fit 35's on there...ok, that's a 1" Body Lift (BL)....done.

IF - You want to be able to crawl over rocks...OK, you need to loosen up and make some slack on the brake lines/wires, e-brake cable, diff breathers, anti-sway bar links, etc...and then get longer shocks, so as you go over the rocks, the tires stay on the ground.

IF - You need to lift the frame higher (Only larger tires can lift the axles and diffs higher...that's the job of the BL...so larger tires fit w/o adding bumpstop extensions...) - so thats a suspension lift (SL).

How high a center of gravity are you comfortable with - vs - how high do you need the frame to get?

As for coils vs spacers...well, coils have spring rates..so, the weights of the various jeeps change the amount of lift the coils give...

As many people who do a lift with longer coils also add bumpers, winches, armor, etc....they make sure the minimum lift they advertised still will work...plus give some fudge factor for springs settling in over time, etc.

Spacers are dead nuts reliable...they lift you by their thickness...every time...the weight doesn't matter, there's no sagging, etc...its a spacer, it makes the space, it works, period.

Now, a coils does have some advantages over a spacer...for example, as you make the jeep taller with a spacer OR a coil, it raises the center of gravity, and, you STILL might be addin bumpers, armor, etc....

...but with the spacer...your STOCK coil has to carry the extra weight...and it will typically sag MORE than a lift coil would under the same load.

New, longer shocks, can also be valved stiffer, to help control the extra COG and weight being flung around, etc....

So - each type of lift has pluses and minuses....and, depending upon your build-up plans...one, or the other, might make more sense or cents, etc.

Food for thought.
