Default Are spacers a must?

Hey guy's, a question please, I have a 07 2dr X, I am staying with the stock 17 inch wheels, and putting on 35X12.5/17 BFG MT's. I do have a 2.5 inch BB lift. Is it absolutely a fact that I have to buy spacers, I stay on road most of the time and never turn full lock! I didn't want to buy the tires and not have the spacers ready to go on if they aren't totally needed. Thanks

Yes, with 35s and stock wheels you will need wheel spacers to prevent rubbing.

I would say absolutely a must. When I first put 12.50" wide tires on, without the spacers, I was about 1/2" away from rubbing in the back. Any small imperfection in the road and I could see the tire getting sliced open. I was terrified just driving back to the house from tire shop. (The tires came by Fedex around noon and the spacers showed up by UPS later in the day, and I was super impatient!!)

You might find this post interesting. I'm pretty sure 12.5" wide tires will necessitate spacers as others have suggested, but were you to run a narrower 35 (e.g. 11-11.5" wide) I think you might be able to get away with my setup.

Another advantage that spacers provide(in theory) is a little more stability since your stance will be wider lowering your COG. The primary reason for them is to prevent rubbing and your case you do need them due to the back spacing of the factory rims.
